The Long View Lodge - Town of Long Lake

I normally don’t write reviews but at first I was skeptical of this place but as soon as we pulled in I was excited to stay here. My dad and I stayed here to hike the Dix Range and the dinner was excellent and the rooms were very very nice. They have a beautiful living room where my dad and I played this shuffleboard game and a beautiful sunset over the lake. 100% recommend. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

This restaurant exudes a charming vintage atmosphere and was welcoming right from the moment we arrived. The experience was incredibly relaxed and hassle-free. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had been recently remodeled. Being an older establishment, the walls were a bit thin, but it wasn't a significant problem. The restaurant opens at 4 PM, and the chefs really know how to prepare a fantastic meal. The food was absolutely outstanding. Outside, there's a dock available for guests and a fire pit that adds to the ambiance. There's no better way to enjoy an evening in the Adirondacks! We are so pleased to have discovered this place. This place boasts fantastic staff, delicious food, and excellent service, all set against a stunning lakeside backdrop. It’s just a short two-mile drive to the nearest store for any essentials you might need. Being located in the Adirondacks, you'll find endless activities to enjoy, limited only by your creativity. In the warmer months, you can swim, water ski, wakeboard (the fun kind, not the torturous one), relax on various beaches, hike, camp, canoe, and row. When the colder months arrive, opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, hiking, camping, snowshoeing, and even maple syrup harvesting abound. In terms of safety, the area feels quite secure overall, though note that there is no lifeguard on duty at the beach. It is also crucial to avoid walking along the main road, which is very dangerous due to heavy traffic. Fortunately, there’s plenty of open space behind the hotel and restaurant for both kids and pets to play, and outdoor seating allows parents to easily keep an eye on their little ones. The establishment features its own beach and docks, but other necessities are not within walking distance—expect a quick two-mile drive to the general store. Again, please don’t walk this route; it's too risky. As for the food and drinks, the owners have extensive culinary experience, which shines through in every dish served. I tried nearly everything on the menu, including seasonal items, and was pleased with all of them, even those I thought I might not enjoy. If you're a fan of classic American fare, their burger is a must-try; it’s simply that good. The chicken marsala with zucchini noodles was another standout, and the Riggies— a local favorite—are always perfect. Their salads are equally delicious and they offer a diverse wine selection. Plus, they serve Guinness, which is a definite bonus! A couple of important notes: as of February 2023, they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and dinner is served from 4 PM to 9 PM.
