If you are in the neighborhood and have some time on your hand with little money to spend then this is the place. <br/ <br/ Surely the building looks dilapidated but the atmosphere during weekends is good. <br/
I stumbled upon the Royal Exchange Hotel after my original lunch plans fell through, and I'm glad they did! The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the $10 weekly lunch specials were a great deal. The steak sandwich I ordered was a good size, though the chips were a bit small for my liking. The sandwich was made with thick, toasted bread, juicy steak with a touch of BBQ sauce, and fresh tomato and lettuce. The chips were fantastic, thick cut, crispy, and perfectly salted. The atmosphere was relaxed with alternative music playing in the background. Overall, a great spot for a cheap and tasty lunch with friends. It may get busier in the evenings with its big TVs for sports viewing, but during lunchtime, it was a laid-back and enjoyable experience.
The portion sizes were slightly smaller than the traditional 'pub grub', but the overall experience was fantastic. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the food was tasty. I will definitely return.
This pub, owned by BWS/Woolworths, offers standard fare. The food was decent, especially the $10 specials. The steak sandwich was quite good, and the parmy/schnitzel also looked appetizing. I would give it 3 stars.
Been to the RE several times lately and the quality of the meals is always really good. The staff are pleasant and efficient which makes for a good night!
