They stay open well into the mornings and it's a flavor hard to replicate out side the baja. Make sure to try other Tacos beside the asada and...you can add condiments. Make sure you keep your wrappers that's pretty much your tab. Enjoy
During this 3-day foodie trip, we ate at Verde y Crema, Ceasar's, Mision 19, Cabana, and Food Garden. This was a nice break from the fancy fares and our last meal before going home. We Ubered from our hotel and had to direct our driver...as this was not in a touristy area. There were about 5-7 stands along this strip and they all seemed to sell the same comprehensive list of tacos. At 10 am, the stands were still prepping for the day, so we picked our first stand based on it having the only customer. This was last stand as you enter Ave Guilermo. For $17 MXN or $1 each, we ordered the asada and adobada tacos. It came dressed with onions, cilantro, guacamole, and salsa along with a side plate of radishes and cucumbers. Both were tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. So delicious that we ordered two more! We wanted to try another stand and chose one that had grilled green onions. Again, we ordered the asada and adobada tacos for $18 MXN each. Although they were not as good as the 1st place that we tried, they were not bad either. We took a $4.10 Uber ride (round trip) to eat $6 worth of tacos. Perfect end to a fabulous adventure in TJ.
The best Tacos al pastor in Baja, and possibly Mexico. They have been coming to Tacos El Paisano for years and are never disappointed. Tacos are served with guacamole, sliced onions, cilantro and their in house red or green sauce. I prefer the red that is served with a... side of grilled spring onions. Also try the Tacos de tripas (Ku-Darm), they do not leave you down. There is a wealth of tacos spots to choose in Tijuana, but this place is a jewel. When you come to Tijuana, ask a taxi driver for Tacos El Paisano in Las Ahumaderas (aka Taco Alley).
We learned about Taco Alley and specifically Las Ahumaderas from the bartender at El Tigre Plaza Fiesta) a week earlier. Had to go try it. It's as good as advertised. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was fast and friendly. The eats are...cheap.....four tacos and two Tecate's totaled 130 pesos $7US dollars an 18.5 rate). When we arrived just before noon, there were no patrons at any of the taco stands. When we finished and paid, Las Ahumaderas and Tres Salsas next door were both packed and the others were beginning to get customers. Taco Alley is a must do!
