In regard to White Spot generally, I think it is enough to say that, as far as family restaurants go, they’re pretty much near the top in terms of quality, customer service and reliability. The Terrace location is a fine example.First, a little bit of history. This isn’t the first time White Spot has been in Terrace. In fact, it has been here at least once before – in this exact location. However, in its previous incarnation, the hotel it was attached to was the Coast Hotel (now the Days Inn.) The White Spot shut down a number of years ago for whatever reason, but returned earlier this year. I, for one, couldn’t be more pleased because, let’s be honest, in terms of family restaurants, Terrace doesn’t have much. There’s Denny’s, but they’re terrible. And then there are a couple of pizza places. That’s it! So, White Spot; or, rather, the return of White Spot, helps to fill a void in the Terrace food scene. Welcome back! Now, as I mentioned above, the Terrace White Spot is an exemplary example of customer service. I say this because on our initial visit we were in a bit of a rush – we had to get to the airport in fairly short order. Recognizing that we’d probably run short on time, we called the White Spot and phoned in our order so that it would be ready (or at least close to ready) by the time we arrived at the establishment. The folks who answered the phone were more than accommodating – taking our order and confirming that, yes, it would be ready shortly after our arrival. We weren’t disappointed: We received our drinks and appetizers immediately upon being seated and only had to wait about ten minutes to receive the rest of our order: chicken pot pie, spaghetti and meat balls, turkey dinner and fish
We came in the middle of the afternoon, and only one of us ordered a hamburger. I had an excellent appetizer as a main meal: a flatbread covered with cheeses, fried onions and arugula. The service was really good and considerate.
I dined at this restaurant two nights in a row with friends from out of town. The first night, I tried the Mediterranean Chicken Burger which was tasty but messy. The coleslaw was a bit bland. The service was good and we felt like we got what we paid for. The second night, my friend also had the Mediterranean Chicken Burger which was messy. I opted for the Legendary Burger with a Caesar salad. The salad was good and the burger was tasty, but the presentation was lacking. It felt like something was missing, maybe lettuce or tomato. The service was still good, even though it was busier than the previous night. The servers worked well as a team and the new restaurant was a nice change from older White Spot locations. I appreciated the separation of the bar area from the dining area. The location is convenient for hotel guests, but I personally believe there are better dining options in the same block.
Friendly service. I ordered a salad with no bread/croutons. It came with garlic bread. Celiacs beware. The food was otherwise good.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant on both occasions. Despite voicing my concerns online, I have not received a response. I gave it a second chance, but unfortunately, it was the same outcome.
