The fluffy toast with homemade garlic spread is a standout as well. This hidden gem in Penang is definitely one of the best new food spots on the island. While it may lack air conditioning and fancy decor like other restaurants in the George Town heritage enclave, the food quality is top-notch, delicious, and affordable. And apparently, it's healthy too!
Best Toasted Bread with Kacang Phool in Penang. Can be eaten on its own. Why did I choose this menu? Because this menu is one of the best food icons in Penang. Customers can choose between garlic toast, regular toast with kacang pool set (chicken/beef).
I love their toasted bread with peanut filling. It's a great place to relax and unwind. A hidden gem with good service and a friendly owner. I will definitely be returning for another visit!
Owner chef, Nasirah, produced truly one of the tastiest bowl of kacang phool I'd ever had, and I've had quite a few back in Singapore's Geylang Serai Kampung Glam eateries. This place in Penang is perhaps the only one of its kind. It's gratifying to see her display so much passion in her cooking, and what she produced were astounding: kacang phool with a lovely balance of flavours, thick cut roti Bengali perfectly toasted till light crisp on the outside moist inside, her well timed eggs which ooze yellow delicious yolk to enrich the kacang phool sauce. Nasirah's roti jala only available on Thu Fri is a must not miss. Such finesse in her cooking. I'm already planning for my next trip there. Deliciousness all round.
Honest, hearty food from a humble looking food court in a non-descript housing estate. The roti bakar kacang phool arrived as pretty as pictured, lovingly made and tasting just as it looked. One wishes one had extra stomach compartments in which to put away the other distinct fare available (fajitas and cheese melts were on offer that day). The owner (Nazz) is the sweetest, friendliest of people. We had a good long chat where I learnt that everything is homemade, right down to the BBQ sauces. It turns out Nazz is also an accomplished baker, having baked designer cakes to order for some years now, serving clients throughout Malaysia. Looking forward to savouring some of your signature red velvet ice cream cake the next time I return to Penang!
