Considered as one of Bohol's Old Business hotel, a major make over is needed specially for your comfort rooms, there is no proper faucet for cold shower, everything that runs our from the faucet and is shower is all but hot water. Fix some of those for it might ruin the hotel's best panoramic view of Tagbilaran City.
Stayed for two nights for a business conference. It has the basic amenities for a business function. Great view of the province. Not so bad food. Ride to the airport is provided. On the other hand, wifi is not working. Area is secluded. Rooms not properly maintained. Water for shower is weak. Will definitely look for somewhere else when I go back to Bohol.
I preface my remarks by saying this is by far the most damming review I have ever published. The Bohol Plaza Resort & Restaurant is situated high on Dayo Hill on Panglo Island with a magnificent view of Bohol and the Mindanao Sea. It looks like a reasonable high-end resort, pleasant reception area, uniformed staff etc. That’s where the good news stops! I am staying in Bohol for 3 months and was treating 3 friends to 'somewhere new'. They charge an entrance fee of 50 pesos for the doubtful privilege of dining in their restaurant, only half of which is refundable. I asked for a quiet table on the terrace, the noise level from the band in the restaurant (totally devoid of diners), even with the door to the balcony closed was excruciating. I ordered half a butter chicken and was told that vegetables were only available from the grill menu and since butter chicken wasn't from the grill menu, no vegetables were available. Helpfully it was suggested that i could add a vegetarian main course to my order. Recognizing the situation I cancelled the butter chicken and ordered a chicken sandwich. Stale toasted bread, a piece of lettuce, two thin slices of cucumber and a few crisps. It was devoid of chicken and inedible. The mango juice was; well mango juice. The service was slow and unwelcoming, the seats uncomfortable, in the absence of staff (they were all in the empty dining room listening to the music) we changed the chairs ourselves. The bill for four people came to 1,200 pesos + 100 pesos non returnable entrance fee, which represents about 10 days wages for the average Pilipino working on Bohol. When things are this bad there seems little point in complaining - where do you start? It’s fair to say none of us are likely to return. My advice is there is a far better restaurant with a similar view just down the hill. Alternatively eat on the street for 80 pesos since both the service and food will probably be better. I went home and fried a couple of eggs.
"Resort" is a bit of a stretch for this place. Set up on a hill on Panglao island, with a very nice view of Tagbilaran City and the surrounding coastline of Bohol, the Bohol Plaza is a very pleasant place, but not what most westerners would think of as a "resort". It has a basic pool, yes, but not much else. It's located far from the beach so this is really only a place to sleep and relax. Disappointingly, despite a flier for it in the rooms, they currently offer no massage either in room or in "spa" room. They seem to get most of their business from hosting meetings, retreats, and conferences.Rooms are simple.... OK and clean enough, but you need to request room make up any day you want (not automatic). TV OK; with reasonable channel selection. They have internet service (kind of). But really only available in the lobby or the meeting rooms and then extremely poor connection and slow. Don't expect reliable connection. Their IT people constantly hovering about to help people, but they managed to screw up my computer trying to "help" me access internet. The hotel is not near anything else, so if you want to buy snacks or other items, you need to make a trip into the city, a few kilometers away. The hotel staff will let you ride their employee van for free if the schedule fits, and to return you can hire a motorcycle to bring you back for between 100 and 200 pesos, depending on the time of day and mood of the motorcycle operator.Fortunately, the prices of beer and food at the hotel are not unreasonable, so you can eat and drink there without going broke.
