We were very hungry that time. There was too many people and I can't think of a place to eat..Well it's in greenhills so what do you expect, it's always crowded. Then I saw this place, I was not really expecting that much.. I just want to ease my hunger but then surprisingly, the food is really good. Good food. The place is so so but the food is so good that you won't mind the place.
This is my first time at this restaurant. I am quite apprehensive when trying authentic Chinese food in Philippines as most of it is Filipino-Chinese cuisine. However, after seeing the menu with pictures I decided to take the risk. To my pleasant surprise the food I tried reminded me of the Singapore and Malaysian Chinese food. The radish cake was so much like the carrot cake which I use to have for breakfast in Singapore. The spicy noodles with beef was similar version which I use to have in the hawker centre in "mee-pok" but with beef in Singapore or Malaysia. The beef with ampalaya was similar to that I had in a Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Chinese coffee shop. Their porridge reminded me of the porridge I use to have in Jade Restaurants in Singapore. Just amazing!!! Now I will return to taste more of their food. Among other food Luk Yuen, which means Deer Garden, also has Dim Sum, Congee (porridge), wet and dry noodles, Rice Toppings and Bento for the Budget conscious individuals. They also have set menu for 8 to 10 pax which is about USD100 with 10 items including Ice Tea.Now that is not all.....The ambiance is expensive looking, clean and warm. Well I must say that this is a good restaurant so for the dishes I had, minus the porridge, was USD15. The VAT was USD2. This is quite expensive coz this is considered as hawker food in Singapore and Malaysia where would have paid about USD9 and no VAT. But no service charge. The plus point in Luk Yuen is that the rice and noodles are good for 2 persons. If you want to have a simple meal maybe you could just have just the noodles. Leaving a tip for the well attentive and accommodating waiters would also be great.
Quality is definitely not going upwards. service was good but food is not so much. i miss the old Luk Yuen.
Went here last May 13, 2016 They serve the best congee with century egg in town!!! ambiance gives you the feeling of the good old Viramall. brings back childhood memories in spite of the new building and renovations done on the mall.
