Ohisan Nishinishi - Takamatsu

This izakaya was a pleasant surprise in our trip. We went there twice in our week trip as it was really interesting Take/Twist on the traditional izakaya food. There are only two people that cook and the young guy are running, but somehow the service was always on time, no matter if there were a few people in there. In the pictures you see the crispy melted cheese with eggplants, which was extremely good and they had a nice way to make the "fried potatoes" as thin strands. Not many pictures made, but there are many dishes with cheese in them and they also have traditional izakaya foods such as sushi, sashimi, which were also fresh. Their salads were also good and they had a delicious dressing in them. We ended up with a kimchi fried rice that was perfectly smoky and spicy (it would have gone for a second dish if I had not already had the feeling of eating full the other dishes). They also have a wide range of Nihonshu and they were friendly enough to explain the taste profile of each. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip and would encourage more people to try this place. Unfortunately, they have a handwritten Japanese menu, so I would take someone who can read well.

It is delicious to eat! Especially grilled salmon is the best! Salmon is fat and has a nice charcoal grilled smell, it was very delicious. Is it the purpose of getting a “in preparation” tag at the entrance of the store? We had a staff in the store, so I would be happy to guide you when you take a plunge. Delicious! Food arrived fast per other reviews. Standout items: Aburi salmon, fried rice, beef tongue with greens. But almost everything we ordered was delicious. They only speak English so we ordered by showing them the food photos from google reviews. They were patient with us and our over-ordering of food! It's a small cozy place :
