Marta's Cakes - Taguig

5th month birthday cake for my 1st born son My wife has been on the look out for my son's 5th month cake and has spotted Marta's Cakes in Serendra. The store looks nice and cool. Eventhough Habagat was being strengthened by tropical storm Maring we braved the floods and bought a big cake to mark our son's 5th month. My youngest brother in law likes the cake a lot (additional 0.5 points). The store candles for the cake were expensive (and we lost the candles and was not able to use it to make a wish - so its even more expensive now) The cake cost us almost Php 1500. Which is fine by my wife's standards, but too expensive for my goldilocks/red riboon/merced bakeshop sensibility. (less 0.5 points) I think we got a pound cake. I was kinda sure from watching episodes of alton brown's good eats that it is one of the least expensive cakes and might be the easiest to create. Our cakes were littered with smiley faces (my wife might have been partial to it due to my never-ending use of the smileys in my texts and emails). The cake took 30-25 mins to prepare and the presentation of the "Happy Birthday" message was innovative (additional 0.5 points. Would I recommend the Marta's Cakes to my friends? Nope. Will we buy another cake from Marta's? maybe...
