The Grounds of the City - Sydney

Get ready to take a trip back to the 1920s when you enter the Grounds of the City. The brand spanking new restaurant is centred around the 20s era and even though it's all new it feels as though it's been there the whole time. It's a true testament to the craftsmanship and care the team have put into this new social hub. The whole idea of the Grounds of the City is to make it a social gathering place where people meet up and actually chat, not just text and Instagram (although this place is SUPER Instagramable). It's like stepping into a whole other world, it's cosy and bustling with customers and staff dressed in old school attire. The lighting is dim and it truly feels like you're in the 20s. It's very cosy! Just like the Grounds of Alexandria, the food here is exceptional. I had to try the Buttermilk Pancakes with poached rhubarb, lemon ricotta, organic honeycomb and bee pollen. They were fluffy, thick, light and full of flavour. The Soft Boiled Eggs with smashed avocado, heirloom tomatoes and goats curd on a toasted corn muffin were the stand out though. The presentation was exceptional and who can go wrong with smashed avo with our generation really? My favourite part of the whole experience though was the Tea Lady. A lovely staff member, dressed in the 20s inspired uniform walks around the whole restaurant with a trolley full of delicious cakes and treats, ready to serve you your delicacies. We tried the Salted Caramel and Nutella tart and it was awesome. There's a really clever waiting time service, so when you arrive, go straight to the Service stand where they take your name and number then there's a link sent to your phone that lets you know your wait time. Once your table is ready, you're sent a text to come in, enter the restaurant doors and a staff member will find your table for you. It's pretty easy, we went and did some shopping and I just kept an eye on the time line.  Overall really lovely and a great place to catch up with friends and enjoy the Grounds vibes australianeats.com

What a surprise that the well-known "reasons of the Alexandria brand" opened two days ago, right in the heart of Sydney. Grief The interior of the café transports them back to the old glory days of the 1920s. The decor and the lighting is perfectly offered as fine food, coffee and cake. Grief The staff are all very professional and make your visit a pleasure. Thanks to Hannah and Dylan for their attention to detail and our visit so special. Grief It's so good that Sydney has a new coffee and tea place like this is right in the heart of the city. It's a winner !!!

Nice cafe in the heart of Sydney CBD. The food differs on the property in Alexandria, but just as well. Loved the sensitive cakes that you offer.

On a weekday arrived on a weekday, waiting for a table for 45 minutes ... good. Coffee and pastries taken. The coffee was very average, which is disappointing as it is very good in the founding of Alexandria. The pastry was very good ... fresh and delicious.
