Having been away from Sydney for a few years, I find that there are many Malaysian places around, this time back. I'm cautious when it comes to Malaysian food as firstly, I'm a Penangnite where 'we' (state of Penang) are well known for our food amongst Malaysians and Singaporeans. Therefore, this review is slightly biased.I ordered the Wan Tan Mee, and was surprised to find that the standard is not what they have or is assumed in Malaysia. Basically, the standard is noodles, barbecues pork (char siew), blanched choy sum or chai sim, boiled wontons (not necessarily served in soup) and lots of pickled green chillies! I guess the cost of living here is higher hence the difference. The taste was pretty ordinary..it lacked a certain flavoring in the noodles. Apart from that, servers do not serve you even though it is not during their busy lunch hour (as stated to order from counter during lunch time). As I observed, they are selective in who they serve, and I was told to order at the counter. Lack of training of wait staff? Perhaps. The place wasn't busy at all. I'm not sure if I'll go back as the prices one pays are definitely city ones, and it is after all not that sedap.
A very inviting casual place for lunch on a cold winter's day. I can't tell you if these dishes are 100% authentically Malaysian but they were definitely delicious. We shared a Nasi Lemak and a Roti Canai and both were full of flavour and spice. Shared a lychee and lime drink. Friendly and welcoming service. Quick service but didn't feel like we couldn't linger over our food. Well priced. Definitely want to go back and try more of the food.
Very popular little restaurant which boasts of hand made rather than using ready made pre mixes. They have an array of dishes to choose from and all the popular Malaysian drinks as well. Service was good and staff were efficient with seating and order taking. Food was also served quite quickly. Slight disappointment when they served the roti with laksa sauce which is termed as 'curry' on the menu. The sambal for the nasi lemak also was a makeshift onion sambal which did not taste authentic. The place was full by 6pm so be ready for a queue at peak times so this does say something about the popularity of food in this place.
Great for quick pre show meal. Extensive menus - there are three. Had beef rendang and chicken with roti. Good food, quick service and reasonably priced.
