Niigata City - Sydney

Niigata is conveniently located in Sydney's CBD. It is right down the street from the Radisson on Liverpool if you're staying there. Delicious food in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Quick and friendly service as well. I had the pork tonkatsu udon and it was full of flavour and beautifully presented.

If you're after cheap eats then this might be the place to come...we went for a set box each so $17.80 x 2 + our BYO wine at $2 each. So a bit like a fast food place but it's popular so the turnover of food seems ok & it tasted + looked fresh enough. Some of it seemed factory produced...similar to what you can buy frozen from the supermarket eg. Some crumbed/fried seafood pieces. The Wagu beef was tough!...so not of high quality. The miso was super salty - also what you can do yourself from a packet at home. So overall impression was quite average but at least it wasn't pricey. We had been to a top end restaurant the night before so while it wasn't the greatest at Niigata, for the price it was ok + efficient service...so all just ok on the last evening of our 3 night stay in Sydney. You can probably find better in Sussex St so on our return in a few months we'll look elsewhere.

Readily accessible in Sydney CBD. Small restaurant with basic décor. Quick service. Nice food. Reasonable prices. Lunch (including "lunch boxes") and dinner. Have enjoyed lunch and dinner meals here. Today we had decent sized servings in the lunch boxes we ordered - grilled salmon and fried crumped pork (Tonkatsu). Accompanied with miso soup bowl, tempura prawn, croquette, salad, pickled vegetables, rice...... Tasty. Well worth a visit.

This is a restaurant that is worth walking past. We had dinner here and the service was terrible, it took 25 minutes just to get somebody to take our order. When the food did eventually arrive it was delivered 1 meal at a time with a 5 minute gap before the next. The meals were OK but only for what is expected in a lunch time food court and were over priced for the low standard. I wouldn't waste time coming here again when there are so many really good Japanese restaurants nearby.
