Shakespeare Hotel - Surry Hills

We went for Sunday night dinner after the football. Had a great English style Sunday roast, but missed the Yorkshire pudding. The meat was tender and the vegetables a good assortment. One had a rump steak requested as med/rare and was cooked to perfection and...tender and tasty. A good selection of drinks available and everything was reasonable priced

I went there with friends twice and was addicted to the yummy steaks they made! My friend ordered lasagne and he loved it too. The food is good for the price they charge! Try out this place!

We came here as we wanted a break from the Sydney prices and had heard the $13.50 meals were good. When we got there I wanted to turn round and go straight back out, it seemed like a really rough pub. The only free tables...seemed to be in a betting area of he pub which was awful, but we stuck with it and found a nicer area in the restaurant section at the back. We ordered steak and schnitzel. When the food was ready we had to go and collect it ourselves, outrageous, I've never had that before! The food was bland and so so. I think I will may more and go somewhere else next time!

This place is good for an easy $13.50 pub meal (burgers, schnitzel, nachos etc) and a beer or five. It offers some nicer things on the menu (marinara, grilled fish etc) but from my experience those nicer meals always end up feeling like a waste...of money. I 've had both the grilled fish and the marinara and each time the seafood tastes bland it definitely doesn 't taste fresh. Stick to the cheaper choices and if you want some nicer food then head somewhere else all together.

Busy hotel with a good bistro in the back. No more spaghetti on the menu, which was slightly disappointing for the kids, but they enjoyed their schnitzel and daddy enjoyed his beer. Plenty of locals in the bar.
