If I were in search of a fish and chip shop in this area, I would definitely choose this place. While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, the quality of the seafood is excellent.
Always fresh fish beautifully cooked and delicious crisp chips Have been having takeaway here since when we moved to the area, never disappointed
When I first left my parents home years ago the prime considerations in locale were to be close to transport, a laundry and good take away food. Over the years I have become more and more discerning about my food. I love Thai, Indian,...Pizza and Malay however I have never lost my taste for great cooked fish specifically Victorian Gummy Shark otherwise known as flake! I travel a lot and I can say Loui's fish cafe is the best of the best anywhere in the world. I have been a regular customer for over a decade and never been disappointed. The beer batter flake is my favourite and the batter is thin and crispy. You see the fresh fish filets emerge from the fridge. Lovely translucent colour never frozen. I am sure part of the secret is regular changeovers to fresh new oils. The shop is basic there are no frills here. Another clue to its success is that it is always busy. Back to my fav the flake can be served with or wothout batter. If I feel light I go non batter grilled. For a great nosh up I go batter and fried. The fish is always enhanced by a squeeze of lemon juice. The potato cakes are crispy as are the chips. It's hard to keep going on with all the superlatives about the fish and service at Loui's suffice to say that Head Chef Jeremy has my my top vote for the best fish and chips served anywhere on the planet. Try it and I am totally confident that you will agree.
This is the best fish I've ever had from a fish and chip shop. So much crunchy batter. Great chips which are crunchy on the outside and creamy potato inside.
