Il Clandestino - STRESA

This is an elegant restaurant, but the food is not that great. The cerviche was served too warm and lacked acid. My first choice, lobster, was not in stock. The fish filet was average, but was served with artichoke heart that was so woody I had to remove it from my mouth. At the prices they charge, I would expect better. The waiter was professional, but very rushed, dashing from table to table which did not create a relaxing experience. I would not return and I would not recommend.

Worst Fine Dining Experiencce ever! Extremely expencive for extremely poor food. All the different fish didn't have a good qualitiy and the staff was very unhelpful and unsympathetic.

We were highly recommended this restaurant by our hotel. And going by the quality of the food, I really appreciate the steer. This really was modern Italian food at its best. But the bizarre service undermined what should have been an amazing experience. Firstly, the maitre d ' said he couldn 't tell us what the desgustazione moderno would include, beyond the fact that it would be two tasting starters and a tasting main course. Apparently the chef would be creating us what inspired him and even the maitre d ' didn 't know what that would be. But as the food passed us en route to the other tables, it was quite clear that there were a lot of similarities to what we and others received. Our lobster ravioli was just mind blowing, and would have been enough alone to take the tasting menu rather than have to rely on a leap of faith. Two other moans, I 'm afraid. I am canny enough to know that this sort of pushy maitre d ' will steer is towards the pricey wines, and he did. But we had barely had a glass each before he was imploring us to buy a second bottle. And the music was awful, and not befitting a restaurant of this quality. A soundtrack of American MOR rock just doesn 't work in this type of restaurant. Overall, the quality of the food was some of the best we enjoyed in 12 days in Italy, but the service was some of the worst.

Exquisite dinner, presentation of refined dishes. superb fish appetizer raw and cooked. Great all the rest!

Very private, quiet and relaxing place. friendly and helpful staff, delicious food. price-quality ratio based on adequate fish. I would definitely come back and recommend
