This is one of those places where you can either spend big or drink on a budget.
Best calamari ever, great snapper, Fantastic service, beautiful location, decent pricing.
Lunch today, was ok.Not busy, ambience ok, small wood fire was the highlight.Walked in then greeted by manager/owner.Seated quicklyTold 2 entrees off the menu and a main.So the two entrees were the ones I eat but they accommodated me and made me something else, much appreciated.Main was ok, nothing to really brag about. Steak, little bit of jus, chips and small salad. Just ok.Sweets, good size, just ok.Such a shame, this restaurant could really sing but it doesn't.Too many much better choices around Melbourne for us to return.Try if you want, perhaps weekends, nights are better than lunch.
When you buy a Groupon for "Carnival Afloat" through Afloat Cruises run ostensibly by Lady Grange, it is reasonable to expect a cruise. Not so, as the email sent a few days before alerts us that this is an 'onshore' event. Not deterred we attended on the assumption that the 'valued at $149' must imply some promise! A complementary cocktail was advertised - the only option was a Sangria - pre-mixed with ice and lemonade added upon serving. All subsequent drinks had to be paid for! (The Sangrias were $10 each; 200ml Sauvignon Blanc were $9)But the worst part of the evening was the food. When it eventually arrived the trays were stampeded and the advertised 'stand-up buffet' consisted of the following:- tiny cardboard container containing two spoonfuls of rice salad topped by 2 pieces of chorizo- followed 40 minutes later by another tiny container with two spoonfuls of potato salad with chicken (I think) stirred into it- lastly chorizo (again) this time on toothpicksRounding off this sumptuous feast, a selection of 2cm square custard or fudge slices. The stated value of $149 is ridiculous in the extreme. The value of the $49 voucher relied almost entirely on the Brazilian DJ driven entertainment - which I concede was good.We danced and danced - but ultimately felt ripped off!MORAL: if a voucher seems to good to be true, it probably is!
