I had the Nasi Goreng which was wonderful at a fair price. However, I was thoroughly underwhelmed with the house wine Sauvignon Blanc (De Bortoli Vivo) especially since the restaurant totes itself as a wine bar. I understand that house wines are supposed to be budget friendly, but there was definitely a severe sacrifice in quality. I still give 5 stars because I did not have enough time to sample their comprehensive wine selection. I would recommend this place to a friend but would definitely steer them away from the house Sauvignon Blanc.
Its a beautiful place and just refurbished. Its awefully confusing wheb trying to find as there four resteraunts in one building with only two doors... the once rydes was the entire thing so those who knoe melbourne get confused. Dont look for shop fron its confusing and signs are hard to see and idèntical to the hub so clearly its all stille rydges just subdivided. So male sure your entering the correct door. Ive added photos to clearly show how to distinguish the three although one door. Now for thw food as nothing matters uf thats bad and it was as good as one would expect in a vlassy joint where everything is lines with gold (paint) and glass. I had a great steak but my partner was so happy but thats personal.
This place is great for a quiet relaxed drink. We have a free drink voucher, so come for the free booze. We stayed for the service and friendly atmosphere. It’s not too flash, but it’s quite nice. If you are looking for a cool place that serves great drinks and has superior service, then should be on you list.
Funky little bar with food and music on Wednesday and Fridays. Had a great little steak sandwich. The service was attentive and I love the Melbourne cafe lifestyle where you sit out on the sidewalk and watch the world walk by. You may think lots of places have sidewalk cafe's but because the tables are close to the street and the people walk in between the restaurant and the diners it has a totally different feel than for example Paris. Very enjoyable.
Second Act is a great place if your looking for a cosy meal. It is definately not a pretentious place and the ambience was similar to a hotel bar (it is part of the Prince Hotel complex). I made the booking online via Google maps which redirected to TheFork booking service. Service was prompt and attentive but not overbearing. The menu is on the smaller side but would be adequate for most people. The porterhouse steak was delicious and served with a generous serve of chips and a garden salad. Cocktails were above par and good value.
