RJ Pinoy Yum - St. John's

Friend and I both had the sizzling pork dish (I forget what it's called). I asked for mild and she asked for hot. They both came out tasting the the same. The dish was very tasty but way too greasy. The chicken steamed rice was plain with very little chicken. Prices were good and service was pleasant. Disappointed.

I was very surprised to see that there was a Filipino restaurant in St. John's! My sister and I decided to try it out, though it's a bit of a distance from downtown. This place caters to locals, as it was pretty busy when we arrived. The staff are super friendly and very accommodating. I had the Kare-Kare and it was excellent! When ordering the Kare-Kare, be sure to ask for a side of "bagoong" (pronounced "bah-go-ong") or "Shrimp paste" in English. Ask your server how to eat the Shrimp paste with the Kare-Kare, and I'm sure they'll gladly explain it to you. The lechon paksiw and beefsteak were also very good, as was the siopao. My only suggestion to the restaurant would be to offer other combo options, even if it's just a daily special. There were so many dishes I would have loved to try! Regardless, the food was amazing!

My wife and i always like to try new places to eat, we have found some real gems and r j pinoy yum the top of the list! a co-worker recommended r j pinoy yum, he and his better half had been there the previous weekend. he said the staff were very helpful in explaining the dishes, options and spices used. they gave us all the information we needed to make some great choices for our meal. we had the curry chicken, spicy beef, a rice dish and a sizzling platter. i must apologize for not remembering the names of the last two dishes but get them!we had the dumpling appetizers with soy sauce and the house hot and spicy sauce. the food was cooked and presented to perfection and it tasted fabulous! this place is on our 'do over' list! there are quite a few meals we want to try and im sure they will be just as good as our first time.

We ate there with our kids and other family members. It was our first time trying Phillippeno food and we all loved it. Keep up the good work.
