The ribs were so tender they fell right off the bone, and the brisket had that perfect soft texture on the inside with a beautifully caramelized crust. I also had the pickles, and they were great. Now it's time for the food coma to hit, and I'm ready for a nap!
Contrary to what some other reviewers might say online, they genuinely smoke all their meats. The pork ribs, in particular, are delicious and incredibly tender, falling right off the bone. I prefer to enjoy them without the extra sauce on the side, as the meat is flavorful enough on its own (though the sauce is quite good!). The burnt ends were also exceptional; I’ve never had anything quite like them before. They are incredibly tender, and the crust on the outside is almost like a meaty dessert—it’s hard to describe. It feels as if T. rex is still roaming Nevada, and they’ve hunted one just to provide us with these ribs! They also serve pulled pork and brisket, but the real star of the show is the brisket. I travel across the country for work and have been fortunate enough to sample BBQ from many states, particularly in the South, and Sparks and Smoke BBQ could easily compete with the best of them. The brisket is perfectly delicate, tender, and juicy. They cater to those of us who prefer leaner cuts, allowing you to choose between the fatty and lean sides. While I initially stated that brisket is the star, the true highlight of Sparks and Smoke BBQ is the people who work there. They go above and beyond to provide an excellent BBQ experience. I have multiple food allergies, and when I first reached out, they carefully went through every ingredient to ensure my safety. They even changed their cornbread recipe to accommodate my allergies. I’d only been there a couple of times, so I wouldn’t even consider myself a regular, but they still made the effort. If this isn’t the definition of a quality business, I don’t know what is. There are certainly fancier places in Reno with larger menus, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a restaurant that cares more about its customers and takes greater pride in its products. You won’t find better BBQ within a few hundred miles. I would even recommend them over places in Sparks! (But please, for the love of BBQ, don’t pull them too much into Sparks.)
My absolute favorite bbq shop in the city. people, and I can't emphasize enough, they try the speciality. today is not disappointed! brisket and mac are sourded. I'm in the sky new there? tell them! they call for rehearsal and let them try before they buy! They are so nice people and trex is a bamf on the grill. seriously, show them a love!
I sold on the pork, chili, brisket and coleslaw. I always return and I will always leave mine for the good. I love all people who use this restaurant. they really care about their community, their food and their customers. follow their Facebook page for daily specials. my favorites are the Slammer sandwich and the weekly specialization of kartoffeln. they are really for me like an extended part of my family.
This is a hole in the wall take out barbecue joint. It is an adventure. The brisket sandwich is beyond delicious. It is a sloppy hot mess that will make you say, f**k that's good. When you do there's a jar for your F bomb. Worth it. Worth a couple F bombs really. Coleslaw, needs more mayo for me but I appreciate the original cut and dressing they have chosen. Can't wait to try the pulled pork. This place is so cool, they cook up what the smoker can handle, sell it, and when it's gone, they close. Get there early.
