Stopped by here with Amy T. during a Tahoe snowboarding trip to Sierra and popped in around lunch time. We were able to order pretty quickly despite it being PACKED (football Sunday... . The folks at the bar were nice I got a burger, fries, and a local Hazy IPA. The burger was super juicy and I scarfed it down immediately, being hungry from snow activities. Fries were pretty standard, and the beer tasted great. Again, yes it is expensive, and standards were lowered, but for what it is in the snowy conditions, it was a great meal.
If you are at Sierra at Tahoe for the snow you'll probably want to eat, and possibly have a beer. There are three spots, the Sierra Pub upstairs at the base, the 360 at the very top, and the cantina at the base of Westbowl. While the 360 is my favorite lunch spot but it's at the top, so if you stop for a couple drinks, don't get too wild on the way down. The Sierra Pub is my end of the day choice the food is a bit overpriced $11 for a decent sandwich), and the drinks about twice $8 beers). The upsides are, decent beer choices Little Sumpin' on tap for instance), a great view, and you can end your day there without a final ride down. The food varies. It's often crowded. The staff are great though. The better and more affordable snack shops are downstairs in the lodge, but be aware of crowds and large families.
More like 3.5 stars, but giving them the benefit of the doubt since they were super nice people. It was so warm cosy in there, we had to go sit and order some hot food. Tried the chipotle chicken sandwich and the garlic fries, which claimed to be a full pound's worth, but could not have been, given the small pile crammed in the crate with the sandwich. The chicken breast was clearly frozen processed to have the appearance of grill marks. It tasted fine, but hadn't been heated thoroughly. The fries were good quality, sturdy, crunchy fries and not at all soggy or mushy, which I liked. The freshly minced garlic was nice, but basic seasoning was lacking. Not even salted. The employees were great, everyone was really nice and helpful. They had a large selection of beer on tap. Tasted the Angry Orchard, which tasted like apple cider with a kick and not much typical beer flavoring, but it was surprisingly good refreshing. Also tasted the Speakeasy Porter, which was rich amazing!! Overall, nice place to kill some time, eat a quick bite, and try some beer.
The saving grace for this place is that they are the only place with beer and football while your friends are out on the slopes. They have a good selection of beer, and the nachos were very good but everything is overpriced. (Which I came to expect being at a snow lodge). The mountain of fries really is a mountain, but they definitely were not worth it. If they were fried for a few minutes longer they would have been worth the calories.
We were 5 thirsty tired skiers who came into the pub after a full day, and were really disappointed in he way the Bar MANAGER treated our husbands who just wanted to get beers hot cocoa for us. He his staff were completely rude after his shitty remarks, ignored our husbands (who are really patient courteous guys at the bar while they waited for about 10 minutes. (what was the point?! Really sucks to be treated that way we were sober, well behaved, NICE people. A horrible experince. He really had a nasty attitude. A total jerk. Everyone else at Sierra was top notch, we can't say enough about the warm, professional, efficient generous way they conducted themselves. Maybe they can give this guy a refresher in getting along with others. We'll never go to the Pub again.
