At a small table, I decided to try the kkotge (a soft soup with spicy blue crab) which cost 10,000 won (approximately $6.50 USD). It was well worth it as it was highly recommended. I was pleasantly surprised by all the additional items that came with the soup, including tofu, quail eggs, black fungus, marine fennel, mini scallops, kimchi, and a delicious fish that I couldn't identify but enjoyed. There was also a bowl of rice and as much water as I wanted. You can pour half of the soup onto a burner at your table and watch as the crab cooks. The staff then serves the rest of the soup in a bowl for you to enjoy. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely come back again in the future.
This fresh fish restaurant is located in the Noryangjin Market in Seoul. It is even recommended by the LP, so I decided to try some of the local food. The restaurant is on the 1st floor of the market, there are several more along the market and when I entered, I explained the dish I wanted as best as I could and they said ok. First, I had to take off my shoes as you sit on the warm floor with ondol and on a low table. I opted for a kkotge, a mild or spicy blue crab soup that cost 10000W 6.50€ mainly because it was recommended in the guidebook. But what I didn't expect was everything that came with the soup. They gave me some tofu, some quail eggs or at least the size was very similar, a type of black beans that looked like black olives, a little pickled sea fennel, a mini salad, some kimchi, of course, and a grilled fish that I didn't know what kind of fish it was but it was delicious and almost boneless. I'm not a big fan of fish, but this one was really good. Oh, and a bowl of rice, of course xD. And of course, all the water I wanted, for free. They put the soup on a burner at your table and you stir it as the crab dissolves, serving it in the bowl while enjoying the side dishes. Everything was delicious. If I ever come back, I will definitely come back here.
