Excellent Indian food, loved the Tikka Masala and a couple different Naan Bread. Don’t order takeaway via Menulog, it gives you no option to choose rice to the dishes…
Usually eat at the Indian restaurant a few blocks down and wish we had again. Saroor was a bit disorganized and the service was below par and not cheap. Ordered the three dishes: a mushroom skewer dish, lamb cigars and a pumpkin salad. The skewers were quite good but the lamb were greasy little sticks on huge cobs of cucumber. The pumpkin salad never arrived and when asked the staff started to make one. At this stage we had finished the rest of the meal a good ten minutes before. When it did come out it was really sweet and we had nothing to eat it with. They took it back and made one less sweet and took the cost off the bill. We tried it but wouldn't go again.
After hearing about Saroor Indian restaurant in South Fremantle from a number of locals who go there regularly and rave about the place, we finally got to try it last night. We go early to beat the rush, but didn't need to as there was none. A table of 2 was the only other one occupied. Perhaps I should have listened to my inner self when I realised that the venue was offering Indian Street Food and Pizza? An unusual combination to say the least. My wife ordered a prawn dish which was not available due to a lack of ingredients Not sure what that meant, but she ordered an alternative and I ordered a Marinara Pizza. The ingredients were described as Squid, Prawns and Barramundi... Perhaps, being a wednesday there was no barra monday on my pizza when it arrived and no prawns either. There were however a few small pieces of squid together with what I would describe as a semi blended marinara mix of tiny tinned Shrimp, Clams and Mussels. A far cry from the menu description. To add further insult, the Pizza was well and truly charred on the bottom and much of the top. My wife's dish of Goan Fish Curry did have a few good sized prawns but whatever the fish was, it was overly firm, probably due to overcooking and possibly being reheated. It was hard and rubbery and not pleasant to eat. Thank God the sauce was very good and most of it was eaten with the rice which was a blessing perfectly cooked and tasty. I have read the other reviews and can only assume that Saroor was having an OFF night, as most of the reviews and comments from our friends were extremely good to excellent. Compliments to the staff who did their best, but sadly were not supported by the kitchen on this occassion.
I ordered delivery. The online Delivery Menu did not say $9 delivery charge. It was only when I placed the order that they added on the $9 delivery charge. They should be upfront about all charges.
