La Tavola - Smyrna

We had pizza and calzone for lunch today, and they truly serve the best in Smyrna! Everything was exactly as we hoped, and it tasted amazing. The service was incredibly friendly as well. I highly recommend La Tavola!

Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a charming Italian ambiance. The tables, floors, and decor were all fresh and clean. Our hostess/waitress welcomed us with a bright smile, and her cheerful demeanor remained throughout our visit. The menu offered a wide variety of options. My wife chose an all-vegetable pizza, while I opted for the mushroom-stuffed ravioli with Alfredo sauce. A side salad accompanied our meal, and I chose the house salad over the Caesar. The salad, served on a saucer plate, was perhaps the only minor hiccup of the evening; a small bowl might have been more practical for keeping the salad bits from falling over the edges. Our meals arrived promptly, and everything — the salad, the pizza, and the ravioli — was excellently prepared. The portion sizes were satisfying, and the quality was notably high. For instance, the mushroom filling in the ravioli was not just a bland processed mix; it included actual chunks of mushrooms blended into a delicious filling. The Alfredo sauce was creamy, flavorful, and generous. I almost forgot to mention the two breadsticks that came with our meals. Unlike the typical, mass-produced breadsticks from chain restaurants, La Tavola’s were delightful, resembling small artisan loaves in both texture and taste. This detail added to the quality of our dining experience. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, we decided to indulge in dessert and chose the tiramisu, her favorite. It was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to end our meal. Throughout our visit, the staff checked in on us without being intrusive, and we felt no rush as we enjoyed our time. The prices were reasonable and fair, particularly given the exceptional quality, effort, and professionalism of this hidden gem. Our first visit on such an important occasion was a memorable one, and La Tavola has earned a spot on our list of go-to restaurants. This is a fantastic restaurant if you enjoy Italian cuisine! We moved to Smyrna in April and have already visited five times. We love coming here for their delicious pizza, calzones, Italian sandwiches, and great entrees, as well as their wonderful selection of wines. They also offer domestic and imported beers. Highly recommend!

As first-time customers, we absolutely loved this restaurant and its food! Our waitress, Jessica, provided wonderful service. We all enjoyed the great deal that included sharing an antipasto and dessert, along with two entrees. The portion sizes were generous! We will definitely return to try everything else on the menu.

Service was a bit slow tonight, but given the current staffing shortages, I can understand, so I didn't deduct any stars for that. Our waiter was busy but did his best. I would give him four stars as well. However, I did take off one star due to the cleanliness of the restaurant. The tablecloths looked old and stained. They placed white paper on the tables over the tablecloths, which prevents direct contact, but it's not ideal. When I went to the men’s room to wash my hands, there were no paper towels available. The floor had an odd appearance near the toilet, as if the tiles had been cut too short, leaving the baseboards exposed. It was a bit wet in there, which may have contributed to some unpleasant odors. The floors could definitely use a deep cleaning; I noticed flies in the dining area, even one crawling on a salt shaker, and we spent some time shooing them away from our food. There is a bug zapper somewhere, and I heard it zapping a couple of times, which wasn't the most pleasant sound while eating, but it was preferable to flies buzzing around. Overall, the place feels a little rundown, but the quality of the food and service was strong enough that we will return to try more items. That bread is truly amazing!
