This restaurant brings me back to my roots... The food is amazing, I haven't tasted Soul Food this delicious since leaving Livingston, Texas. I even had to use a plastic spoon to cut into the tender pork chops - every dish was seasoned to perfection. I will definitely be returning soon! As for practical matters, there is a small parking lot with around twenty spots and a small ramp for wheelchair accessibility at the front door.
Keeping monday tradition alive. The red beans and rice with fried chicken, peach cobler and corn bread will make your monday feel like sunday at mommas house.
I was really looking forward to trying Soul Food, but I was disappointed. I hope it was just an off day and that the restaurant finds success. It can be tough to find local gems in a sea of corporate options in Slidell, but we always try to support businesses like Celinas.
I got the fish plate it came with 5 decent size pieces of fish the cabbage I was told there would be turkey sasuage in it but I didn't have any in mine I receiver a side salad the meal came with 2 sides and toast if there was butter on the toast I couldn't tell. Besides that everything I ate had a good flavor. The fish were crispy but not over cooked. My husband had the cheeseburger po boy and fries he said it was ok. My God child had the meatloaf with jambalaya and dirty rice. The meatloaf came over rice she didn't know that because it wasn't stated and so she ended up with 3 times the rice. She did say everything was good her meal came with a sweet roll. The restaurant was clean and empty when we went between lunch and dinner. Around 4 pm I dont care for everything being served in to go containers. The salad comes in a Togo like soup bowl hard to mix in the dressing. I'd go back again for a lunch plate maybe to take it to go. The server was nice but not as attentive. It's also a order then sit kind of place and you refill your own drinks.Kid-friendliness: It's a family environment kids are welcomeParking: Parking to the side of the entrance about 20 or so spots Wheelchair accessibility: There is a straight walkway to the door Dietary restrictions: I noticed they have baked or grilled options on some of the foods instead of all fried there is also salads
