My dining companion had the fried chicken, which he loved. I had the linguini fra diavolo. The flavors were excellent and there was plenty of seafood in it, but the scallops were a bit tough. They have a very small specialty cocktail list but the bartender nailed standards, a gin martini and a Manhattan, which were both as good as they get. As fun as mixology can be, a bartender who can make the perfect martini or Manhattan really shines!
Late night supper 9:00 pm here on shelter island! couldn't be better than at Vine Street. Great buzz, welcoming staff, reliably excellent food competent/friendly service. The fresh baked baguette w yummy butter is their signature and keeps you satisfied with a well poured martini while you wait for your starter. Portions of fabulously prepared standards as well as daily specials never disappoint just wish the lobster pot pie and bouillabaisse were available on weekends!
We love going to Vine Street Cafe. We decided to celebrate Mother's Day Saturday instead of Sunday. We sat at the bar with Marco, the bartender. We are always so happy when we can get a seat at the bar and just have a nice relaxing meal. I had a filet mignon which was cooked beautifully, The men in the group had the bolognese. The food and ambience at Vine Street is always exceptional.
Great dinner on a Monday evening with friends. We had calamari, rigatoni bolognese and duck confit. Everything was perfect and our server Jared was really excellent. Wine list could benefit from more choices from Italy... just our preference to go with the pasta dishes). Restaurant was full and the atmosphere was lively. Prices were higher than we expected, but it seems like all the restaurants on the East End have raised their prices this year! We would definitely go back.
I always look forward to dinner at Vine Street...unfortunately Iast nite was a total disappointment. We 3 had the prix fix menu however instead of the fabulous duck confit they offered chicken confit..a leg and thigh so salty it was not edible (2had that) and the 3rd person had skirt steak very tough and chewy. I ordered an ice tea and asked that it be served in either a proper ice tea glass or beer mug as a small eater glass is not avceptable for ice tea..it wasn't overly tall but when the bill came I was charged for 2 glasses...when questioned I was told it was double the normal size.Overall I would questioned ever having the priis fix menu again ..all too mediocre.
