Sweet Tomato's - SHELTER ISLAND

Get a table on the porch and savor a delightful Italian-inspired meal or pizza in the heart of this quaint village. The interior is cozy and ideal for a chilly evening. While I wouldn't describe the experience as spectacular, it was certainly enjoyable, and the charming atmosphere of the location makes it worth a return visit.

We were seated right away, and the waitstaff was extremely attentive. Their food recommendations were spot on! We really enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back.

This restaurant has been a favorite of mine for several years, and I'm pleased to say it remains outstanding under the new ownership. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the cuisine and wine pairings. The food was absolutely delicious; my friend even stopped mid-sentence to rave about her first bite! The calamari a la plancha was incredibly tender, and the spinach salad with pears was simply heavenly. For our main courses, we had the shrimp with linguine and the fish of the day, which was fluke served over broccoli rabe with a puttanesca-style tapenade (without anchovies). Both dishes were excellent. Coming from a family that appreciates good cuisine, I was thrilled that this place has maintained its quality under the new management. Thank you for another wonderful dining experience!

Well. We just lost our favorite restaurant.... We LOVED Sweet Tomatoes and have been frequent visitors over the last few years. But no more. Jimmy is gone. The attentive waitstaff is gone. The service is gone. The delicious food is gone. We have tried Sweet Tomatoes twice since the new regime....and will not be going back. Don't waste your time or money either. You will be disappointed. Further, a dead restaurant on Shelter Island on a Friday night....hmmmmmm....maybe the word has already gotten around.

The special Cioppino came incomplete. Two ingredients were missing and no mention to the customers about the missing items. I will not mention the excuse from the chef. A party of 25 people with 6 children in a separate table took over the restaurant from a noise point of view. The children were out of control with no supervision from the adults. When we complaint to the waitress....she just shrugged her shoulders. The noise totally ruined our evening.
