Another staff had to come out to introduce the wines. Strange and unprofessional experience at a starred restaurant. Couldn't believe the place hired staffs and didn't educate about their wines so well, nor had a proper somm.
Second time at Mingles. This time trying the winter menu instead of the fall menu in 2019. The items are completely different but chef's personality still shines through managing to balance warm hearty flavours with subtlety and layered sophistication. The black chicken was phenomenal. I always enjoy the crash course of learning more about traditional Korean alcohol everytime I come. Will definitely be back again.
Heard a lot about Mingles, as a foreigner this restaurant keeps appearing on the top 50 best restaurants in Asia, so I definitely had to try this during my visit to Seoul. It was a 250000 won dinner, and with the reputation and the Michelin Star my expectations were really high for it. I have to say I was impressed by the menu, by the variety of dishes served and the creativity of the ingredients. I can say I enjoyed every dish, but not sure why towards the end of the meal I felt that it seemed to lack something and I was looking for something more. To me the bites were more memorable than the other dishes. The experience there was not too bad initially but then towards the middle of the meal I guess a few female diners had a little too much alcohol and the group became rowdy, but am not sure if it was because they were talking so loud they realized people were looking at them and they became quieter for a while but it happened again for a few times. Also a little episode at the end while paying the bill I have already made the payment online but the staff asked me to pay and it took quite a while to resolve the issue.
Impeccable service and superb creation of dishes, indeed a modern take on Korean cuisine. I cannot emphasize how wonderful our dining experience here was, truly understand now the hallmarks that made Mingles uphold their 2 Michellin stars. From the moment I entered the restaurant I was greeted with a warm welcome and every dish from start to finish was beautifully crafted. Every dish had me at awe, outstanding!!
Was my first time to visit this famous restaurant in Seoul and I was happy that I did. Delicious dishes with local produce and western techniques in most cases but without loosing the Korean touch. I will definitely recommend you to visit this restaurant. The chef is super nice as well.
