Monte 's is a blessing. At the moment I stepped in to get my food, I could say that this place was authentic. The food followed. My Tinga Tostadas were one of my favorite foods I've eaten for months. They were absolutely up to the highest quality bar I have for comparison. The Quesadillas were also excellent. The veggie was delicious, although my uncle complained that the shrimp did not have enough shrimp in it. The tacos all had good tortillas. The Carnitas tasted good, it had a full taste. The chicken in the tacos was dry, but the intended sauces were good. You can say the chips are made in-house. You were very good. Guac was smoother than I expected. My family wanted Empanadas. You were okay, but I didn't expect anything special on this front from a Mexican place. Overall, this was not the best Mexican food I've ever eaten, but it surpasses its competition so far and does certain things like the Tostadas, Quesadillas and Chips good enough that I give it 5 stars. I'm ashamed that it took me so long to discover Monte's in Seaside.
Every city I visit, I like to try her taco spots. I'm also a little sticker for authenticity, I don't like super excessive American versions of food. This place is where you want to get Tacos from Seaside. My wife and I went to dinner and ordered their Bistec (Steak) Tacos and an order of rice and fried beans. The food came within 5-10 minutes and was hot and fresh. They easily ride the tortilla, which gives an ingenious crippiness vs unfried/toasted. Bottom line, if you want fantastic authentic tacos, take them from Montes. I'm back more than a few times before I go. 10/10
A great find! My family will definitely return. Montes Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Seaside. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. This was our first time here, but certainly not our last. If you are in or around Seaside, this place is the place to go.
