We were called names by the owner Ledru Christophe! Please be advised if you want to book this restaurant or hotel. They should not be in this business
As explained in my hotel review of our stay at the Hotel Ouvree, any problems with table pisitii ing or anything else we 're sorted out by the excellent Head Chef proprietor washed dormwb with a very acceptable aperitif. Predictably the wine list was sextensive and superb with good wines at acceptable prices as well as rarer ones at appropriate prices. The Surprise menu was great for us adults but a little complex for our 14 year old children. I recommend a steak frites option could be introduced for them. Very enjoyable dinne, worthy of helping us relax after a day of driving down from London on the wonderful French motorways with the mnot do 'wonderful ' French drivers on the loose.
Very disappointing. I don’t mind the concept of the chef choosing the menu, but to serve as the fish dish on a menu at €68 one sardine was a bit cheeky. I like sardines, on a barbecue or in a beach cafe, but I don’t expect to get one in a supposedly upmarket and expensive restaurant. The meat course was a thick steak, but it was hard to cut and hard to chew, as well as lacking in flavour. When I complained, I was told it was “aged beef” well, it was certainly old! Despite my complaints about two of the five courses the dessert was excellent, I should add, the saving grace), no attempt was made to offer, for example, a complimentary cup of coffee, instead the whole thing was treated as a bit of a joke. This was so different to a recent experience in a similar Spanish restaurant, where the woman in charge was horrified to learn I had found the aged beef again) tough, stringy and tasteless, and to my astonishment refunded the cost of that course. I didn’t expect that at this restaurant, but the lack of concern didn’t go down well. We won’t be back.
We had dinner in October at the restaurant the address we particularly like. the chef christophe ledru offers gourmet cuisine with local and seasonal products. several menus, an exceptional wine map, a very pleasant setting and a professional service but especially human and friendly. We love it.
Accustomed to the big tables, we were drawn to the history of the chef and decided to choose the meal for euros per person. the surprise concept has seduced us we have been able to report the allergies and foods we do not like at the beginning of meals. what a treat!!! in the entrance we had a foie gras prepared in an original way never seen elsewhere...I leave you the surprise...because a paved with delicious sandre. for me, not loving the cheese I had desserts!! for the cheese lovers, the plate presented is composed only of local cheeses of very good quality. The welcome is perfect. The sommelier is very good advice. we had a great time
