Cafe Gabbiano - Sarasota

The food was outstanding. Everything was wonderfully fresh and packed with flavor. I ordered the lasagna Bolognese, and I wish I could have snapped a picture, but it was so delicious that I couldn’t help but fully enjoy the experience. Although I’m visiting from North Carolina, I’ve lived most of my life in New York City, so I didn’t expect to find such incredible Italian food in the Florida Keys. Chris was an exemplary server; he took excellent care of us and was not only efficient but also incredibly sweet!

The food is excellent, though a bit pricey. However, the generous portion sizes and homemade pasta make it worth it. The atmosphere is quite charming, giving you the feeling of being in a wine cellar.

I have to say we had the best dinner at Cafe Gabbiano! My wife (Devon Carr Davis) and I arrived yesterday at 5.01 and the staff was already as if they were open all day. We are greeted by a very warm young lady named Kate, who allowed us to choose a private table. Inside the restaurant I found it very clean and charming with the variety of wine selections and bottles literally surrounded you in all directions. Our waiter, Jordan Adams was very professional and well versed with the menu, wine selection and specialties. Jordan and his assistant held our drinks, and hot bread (delicious) basket full. I had the fresh lobster ravioli and it was not disappointed, while Devon had a shellfish dish with homemade linguins that was prepared for perfection. We ended up with the homemade lime cake that was skurril, with the only exception that I would notice that the lime toe is omitted because it really exaggerated the cake itself. Bravo to the boss, and the owner Marc Grimaud, who presents Devon with a Trip Advisor Excellent Service Award for Jordan Adams! Kate, the hostess, give us a good evening and asked us to come back what we are with friends in-tow. Very recommended!!!

What a great place to spend my last night in Florida! The food was delicious and our waiter Vinny was the best. Had a great job that describes the Entres!! Spent over two hours there and didn't feel rushed! I love the place!

I'm an Italian 1st generation and I think the Cafe Gabbiano was one of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten for a long time. Especially the Risotto! The ambience and our waiter made it a very pleasant culinary experience!
