My mother-in-law and I were standing front and center, thoroughly enjoying the damn team their entire show. We were all captivated and enticed by their performance. The pier has several businesses for everyone to enjoy and entertain themselves with all the food eatry spots available, performers, photo oops
We visited on a Monday during the day. We had the beach mostly to ourselves for most of the day. The Pier was populated all day. But, there are bathrooms available which were cleaned continuously and well taken care of. The beach is clean. There were lifeguard stations where lifeguards are doing a great job monitoring. We parked along the Pier for $15. There are plenty of places to eat on the Pier as well as lots of shops.
Pier into skyline of Santa Monica and you might spy Santa Monica Pier... At least from PCH, also known as Pacific Coast Highway. Santa Monica Pier was built 115 years ago in the later decade of the 1900s in 1909, it 's gone through a lot of growth since then including the addition of Pacific Park, loads of attractions (including unlimited rides for $30 , restaurants and a repair/rebuild after a huge storm in the 1980s. I 've ridden the ferris wheel, played in the arcade, eaten at quite a few places as kid and absolutely as an adult... Most recently at Bubba Gumps (the Margaritas are amazing! I still remember when me and Katherine Mcphee exchanged verbal hellos back in 2006 after she was wrapping a photoshoot by the steps... You never know who might be here (then and now . Definitely some fun post adventures here in the early 2010s as well as just before 2020, but I couldn 't tell you the last time I walk the entire pier, well majority of it as they had a private event/party blocking off the rides and some of the fast food and fast casual spots. Occasional filming happens here, large events, concerts, so forth... You can actually inquiry at the official website: santamonicapier.org/venue rentals The cool thing about Santa Monica Pier is you never know what you 're gonna get, but you 're definitely going to enjoy yourself. Tons of performers recently, but often the case including sketch artists, musicians, magic and more. The weather was extra perfect making the transition from summer to finally fall all that much better plus I got to enjoy the day with my love and that captured something special. It 's really fun to be a tourist in Los Angeles when you live in Los Angeles lol. The upkeep is more than okay in most places, not perfect but I 'd imagine with normal wear and tear from nature is a big part of faded damaged signs and chips in benches or railing. You 'll noticed some official plaques at the end of the pair to honor it as a national landmark and one of the oldest piers in the United States. We parked over near 4th Colorado and made our way over but even Downtown Santa Monica Station (literally a skip from where we parked is a great choice (to avoid traffic parking fees . Parking at the beach pier area varies day to day and definitely during certain seasons... Anywhere from $7 to $20 per day (no ins and outs . A great place for family, friends, yourself and definitely your someone. Come on down, the breeze is great!
If you are ever visiting LA, it's a definite must on your itinerary, as a local I don't go out here because its a true tourist trap, sorry just not my fav. Unless there's an event or on a weekday non holiday. If you're a first timer, then yes, I would say go and explore. Parking is a nightmare though and traffic on the street let's not get even started haha But do go, don't let that stop you, its like that all over LA Walk along the beach, people watch and enjoy the nice cool SoCal breeze.
I've been coming here for years, but sadly, there's been little improvement. The pier could use some cleaning and upkeep to look better. While the view is nice, parking is a hassle. Santa Monica is great for tourists and first-timers, but as a local, I wouldn't recommend it.
