The owner Nicole is friendly and runs a top notch business! We already plan on returning in the future for more classes.
I had an incredibly enjoyable experience at the Contemporary Southwest II demo class! Chef Smith was both entertaining and knowledgeable, making the class engaging from start to finish. We spent the first two hours watching and learning, and the last hour having a delicious meal. The menu for the class was amazing: 1. Smooth and silky tortilla soup 2. Smoked, chile rubbed, and marinated flank steak with cascabel chile steak sauce 3. Mojo marinated vegetables 4. Green chile macaroni and cheese 5. Coconut flan with salted caramel The staff was attentive throughout and the gift shop added a charming touch to the experience. If you're looking for an entertaining and educational culinary adventure, I highly recommend attending one of these demo classes.
Loved the Traditional New Mexican 1 class! The instructor Michelle (aka Mica) was fabulous! The food delicious and the history fascinating.
I don't think I've ever written a bad review but I'm extremely disappointed with the SFSC customer service. In 2021, I enthusiastically purchased a beautiful Chambra pan after attending a SFSC class with a large work group. I have cared meticulously for this pot and yet a significant crack appeared. I immediately communicated with SFSC and today, Susie responded with a message saying that they would not offer a refund or replacement. This is very poor customer service. I think a refund or replacement is very reasonable due to the expense of the cookware and it's short life. Therefore, I cannot recommend the school or the items they sell in their store.
While the jazz band was fantastic, the food was disappointing—cold and mediocre at best. Another surprise was that tips for the servers were based solely on the drinks purchased, not the food. I made sure to give our server a significantly larger tip to acknowledge his efforts. There seems to be quite a bit of attitude from the owner and her daughter, especially considering the steep prices for just average food. Next time, we’ll seek out great jazz at a different venue. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. UPDATE: They have since refunded our tickets to the show, which I find to be very generous. I truly appreciate their responsiveness.
