Sumika Santa Clara

I tried the Oyakodon, Tonkatsu tray, and Chicken Karaage tray. The Oyakodon was fresh and cooked to perfection, and I found that a dash of hot sauce elevated the flavor even more. The trays were hearty and delicious; the meats were crispy, the portion sizes were generous, and the rice, pickled vegetables, and miso were all excellent. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. While it was a bit on the pricey side, the serving sizes for dinner made it worth it in my opinion. Will I return? Absolutely!

For the past few months, this has become my favorite ramen spot. I'm quite particular, but this place exceeds my expectations! My entire family is happy, and each of us has found our favorite dish. The kids absolutely love the fried gyoza. I appreciate the convenience, too—you can order takeout, enjoy a lunch with family, or have a date night dinner here.

As for the food: the Donabe Spicy Miso Ramen was delicious and generously portioned (5/5). The small Sumika Salad was actually quite large, although it wasn't quite the same as the version I had pre-pandemic at the Los Altos location. The food was served promptly, and I appreciated that they kept seating customers until closing time (8:30 PM), especially since some places close up to an hour early.

Sumika resides in the spot where my favorite restaurant of all time was located. Iroriya. Let me tell you, I was so Flippin pissed when they shut down Iroriya. But like a Phenix, a new place rose through the ashes.... Sumika. Low and behold, Sumika is born of the same owners. And to my delight, the menu is very similar. So similar in fact, it still deserves my 5 star review for Iroriya. There are so many great dishes. This place is japanese. I should have put that up higher. They have sashimi, small but a really quality variety. They do yakitori over coals, and specially dishes. Go see my pix. They should be attached to this review. Everything made his is made with pride. Its hard to explain until you see it for yourself. I highly recommend Sumika Until next time...

The Oyako Don really disappoints me. Not enough eggs to cover the surface. The chicken has a bitter taste.
