Ate here 3 times in 2 days. Food and service were both excellent. Service was quick and food very tasty. Restaurant is small but very cozy.
There are plenty of restaurants with good food -- but the truly well managed ones are those where if something goes wrong, the manager and staff find a way to problem-solve and respond to the customers' expectations. My family and I went to this restaurant around 7-ish for dinner and it turned out that they ran out of steak due to the large number of patrons that night. (Imagine a steakhouse with no steak... and we had reservations while other patrons were just walk-ins.) The manager quickly re-assured us that they could thaw more steaks without degrading quality, and requested a little patience for a short waiting time for this extra step. The food turned out very well -- and the manager kept apologising for the added wait. That night was quite busy for all of their staff but you could see the effort to deliver and the food did not disappoint.
Tender juicy steak and very yummy Heinanese Chicken. Pair it with their garlic rice or wine. You cannot be wrong with it.
The restaurant does not offer fusion cuisine, but an odd coexistence of cuisines on its menu: Peranakan (laksa, Hainanese chicken rice), Mediterranean (pasta, paella), British (fish and chips), and American (?) (burgers, Bbq ribs, and steaks). My impression is that its owners conceptualized it initially as a serious steak house; steak is incorporated into its paella, burgers, fried rice. Somehow this focus was lost and the menu went wild. If steaks are really the restaurant's specialty, why does it not have a proper wine list? The place was not even half full on a Saturday night (09/17) when our family dined there. Access to the establishment is via a steep flight of stairs to the second floor.
