L L Hawaiian Barbecue - San Jose

I was greeted by Howard, the cashier, but I needed a bit more time to decide. He was very patient and gave me the extra time I needed. When the gentleman received his order, I asked him for recommendations, and he kindly mentioned that he was a fan of the #2 BBQ Platter (or combo) and admitted he hadn’t tried anything else. Shortly after, a lady walked in, noticed I was new, and suggested I try any of the bowls. Finally, I chatted more with Howard, who explained some of the menu terms and asked about my food preferences. In the end, I decided to go with the #2 BBQ Platter as a starting point. I really appreciated Howard’s effort to guide me through the menu. He also informed me that if I didn't want the macaroni salad or white rice included with the #2, I could swap them for other options listed on the whiteboard. I opted for French fries, which looked delicious in the menu picture. When I got home, I opened my overflowing box (it barely closed—just see the picture!) and sat down for lunch. It turned out to be a hearty and delicious meal! The ribs, beef, and chicken were all grilled to perfection and almost melted in my mouth. There was also a refreshing lettuce salad underneath the meat. I definitely plan to return to try the bowls and explore more items on the menu because what I had was really good. I recommend this restaurant, particularly this location, because of Howard’s excellent customer service. However, I gave the ambience three stars because I was hoping for a more Hawaiian-inspired décor.

The food here is consistently excellent, especially when I compare it to other L&L locations I've visited. However, my only complaint is that they no longer offer Sriracha, which I find quite disappointing.

I've been coming here for years and have noticed that the slices of spam in their musubi have gotten thinner. Now it seems like it's mostly rice with just a tiny slice of spam.

The portions were huge and the chicken katsu was delicious!

I just wanna take my time to say that the staff here was so amazing and sweet to the lady who took my order and told me I?m a good mom she made my whole day. Thank you for the good food and the kindness we will definitely be back to this location fromnow on. Kindness makes the world go round and that?s something we forget.
