Also tried their cocktail and the octopus was very chewy it didn't seem like it was fully cooked or maybe it was the bad quality of seafood. Will never come back. We celebrated my son's graduation from college here with a small group of people. The taco bar was set up with asada, chicken, shrimp, enchiladas, rice, beans, and all of the add ons. The food was great and the service was awesome. The staff was always present for drinks or any needs that we had. Between the food, service, location company, it was a great graduation celebration. Really good food, the pozole was bomb good m. It comes with fresh radishes, onion, chili, cabbage , lime, and you put it in the stew soup! Mix it up, just so perfect! The taco was so tasty too, we tried just about everything. The grilled corn salsa was so perfect! The Shrimp ceviche was super tangy, citrusy fresh if you love citrus and sour! Beef taco with grilled onion topping was perfect. Great service, family owned small businesses, fancier place than most around the East Side, but modern Mexican food, a a flair of finer dining. No alcohol yet but that's in the work! Love the decor, vases, and the open al fresco dining patio. Chef Genaro Mendez has been around many great restaurants in the Bay Area, chef Genaro Mendez previously worked at Spoonbar in Healdsburg. There, he trained under Top Chef alum Louis Maldonado and quickly honed his skills. He went on Naschmarkt and Madera, then he was at The Creek Eatery where I really enjoyed his foods. So glad he stayed busy and hope this will be a destination for foodies and local alike!
Finally got to try Portal and it was AMAZING!! Great quick service by the owner himself and amazing Mexican food with obvious fresh ingredients. Never tried better Mexican food in my life. This place is better than Luna and Zona Rosa. They also have a taco bar outside after hours! I found them on Instagram where they announce their new dishes @elportalcocina
My friend had a taco platter for his graduation party, and it was absolutely amazing! The shrimp and carne asada tacos were perfect. We also tried the enchiladas, beans, and rice, all of which were fantastic. I highly recommend this place!
