Sushi Ota - San Diego

Don't know what the hype is all about. Himitsu prices but not as good. It took a while to get a reservation and my whole family was not impressed. The wagyu was actually so chewy and cold that it had to go back. We've never had to do that. The rolls were ok bc but again nothing special. The o toro was good but I expected bigger pieces for the price tag. It was just an ok experience but not worth the hype. It may have been good when there weren't more choices out there.

Food is very good. Attitude is not. I really like the variety available for sushi and prep is terrific. However, stay consistently have an attitude if you walk in without a reservation and the negative attitude continues throughout the service.

My wife and I are willing to make the trek down from the Bay Area to eat here. There something truly special about taking a bite of fresh sushi. Truly outstanding restaurant.

3.5 stars Take out review Lunch chirashi 16) -assorted fish were excellent and fresh. Definitely felt like it melted in your mouth -sushi rice was disappointing. Lacked the vinegar taste of sushi rice and it tasted a bit stale. -loved that they separated the fish and rice when ordering takeout Torn between 3 and 4 stars due to the rice. Leaned towards 3 because I had somewhat high expectations from the many 5 star reviews. Perhaps they are better known for their sashimi and omakase.

One of the better sushi restaurants in PB. My family and I have eaten here many times. Sushi isn't something you want to get wrong. Would recommend.
