Star Anise Thai Cuisine - San Diego

The food was absolutely fantastic! If you have a passion for Thai cuisine, this is the must-visit restaurant in the UTC area!

The restaurant has a great ambiance, although I only experienced it through takeout and didn't dine in. I ordered the drunken noodles, but I found the dish to be under-seasoned. The addition of choy sum didn't complement the noodles; its bitter flavor clashed rather than enhanced the dish. Typically, drunken noodles come with broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers, which I believe would have worked much better. Overall, my experience was pretty average, and I think there's definitely room for improvement.

I visited this place last year and it was not great, and unfortunately, it hasn’t improved. The service remains poor, and the food lacks any flavor. I ordered Pad Thai with chicken, but they added tofu instead. The waiter was unhelpful and unfriendly. It's impressive how they managed to make such a disappointing Pad Thai, which is usually hard to mess up. Overall, I would rate the food a 1 out of 5.

Extremely rude front staff. Everything about the order was wrong. I asked for vegan fried rice and red curry and they added egg. I asked to add fried tofu and paid for it and they forgot to add it and won't refund. Never gonna order from here.
