Olive Cafe - San Diego

I absolutely adore this charming restaurant! I would definitely come back again. The food was fresh and brought to our table promptly. Dining outside can be bothersome because of flies, but Olive Cafe has the clever idea of having fly fans at each table, which really helped. The dishes were well-seasoned, which is a pleasant surprise. It's rare to find a restaurant that uses spices well. Highly recommend!

No Frills Square is impressive. You order your food and it is brought to your table. I had the agitator's pancakes, which were delicious. The cashier was very sweet and friendly, but the service staff were impersonal and hardly said two words. They didn't ask if everything was okay or offer to bring anything else. I don't understand why people like this place so much, as I didn't think it was worth the price. The fact that the accessibility lift was out of order was also disappointing. If I'm looking for breakfast in this area again, I will probably try somewhere else next time.

I order from this place multiple times a month and their food is great and service tends to be also but this most recent visit it was not. Ordered to go, food wasn't ready by the time website stated, had to ask the person out front multiple questions to find out how much longer so I wasn't taking space on patio. Got the text after she said it wasn't ready. I didn't get any utensils inside the bag, no napkins. Wasn't asked if I wanted any on the side or condiments. I ordered soup..... Kind of need a spoon for that, ordered The Bowl, which is the size of a cup but I guess the only difference is a few ounces so they really are both cups of soup. Doesn't state that on the site. Parmesan cheese on soup was also sad and pointless. I over tipped and wish I hadn't since I didn't see the value this time around.

When I live in San Diego for 10 years, I call this place a main goal. It has an east coast deli Vibe meets large parking, hiking and sunshine year round. The scene can be a bit of college students on a date, but this is only when you roll out of bed mate enough on day for brunch or lunch to them. The sandwiches and ulcers are great and I also appreciate the gluten-free bread options. Vegan: gf inclusive and affordable tasty to top it!

I absolutely adore their chai! It's not like the usual white chocolatey chai you find in other cafes in the area, and it tastes especially delicious when served ice-cold. They offer a wide variety of vegetarian options and are very accommodating with substitutions. I also highly recommend their breakfast burrito, which includes hash browns and tastes even better with added sour cream or salsa on the side. The only downside is that it can be confusing to find the pickup location when ordering online, but hopefully that's something they can easily improve on!
