Gelato Vero - San Diego

This restaurant is simply one of the best! With over 30 years of experience making gelato, they offer vegan sorbet with flavors such as coconut and strawberry. This review has been updated from the previous one on July 11, 2018.

As we were driving by, we saw this gelato shop and since I'm a fan of gelato, we decided to make a stop. The menu on the wall clearly marked the vegan options, which included four different fruit flavors. I opted for a combination of lemon and blackberry. The mix of the tart lemon and sweet blackberry was just perfect. I had never tried blackberry gelato before, so I was excited to taste it. They also offered alternative milk for drinks, which was a nice touch. While the gelato was good, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place again, as there are better options in San Diego and I would have liked to see more vegan choices, like a dark chocolate gelato or a vegan pastry on the menu.

We had gelato twice today. We wanted to try a different place than the first. This was blocks from our hotel. It was incredible!!! I wish I lived here and could come once a week! I absolutely loved it! Yummy, yummy to my tummy!!!!

Hands down the best gelato we've ever had anywhere!

I think this restaurant is amazing, but I was disappointed because I used to love their hazelnut gelato 15 years ago. When I tried it recently, it tasted like chocolate instead. They claim they haven't changed the recipe, so I'll give it another chance. Hopefully, it was just a mistake that one time. If it still doesn't taste the same, I will be really upset.
