El Indio Mexican Catering - San Diego

I always enjoy the food at this restaurant. It’s quite authentic and consistently delicious. The atmosphere isn’t fancy, and the prices are reasonable.

This was our first stop at a DDD restaurant in San Diego. Even though it's been a while since the original episode aired, we were curious to see if anything had changed. In one word: phenomenal. We've enjoyed good Mexican food both north and south of the border, but I have to say this is by far the best homestyle Mexican food we've ever tasted. The meats are tender and packed with flavor, and the tortillas remain soft even when they cool down. The same goes for the rice. One thing to note is that their burritos don’t contain rice; they’re filled with fresh ingredients instead! We sampled a few of their sauces—both red and green—and they were spot on. They definitely do not skimp on the meat. If you find yourself in town, you absolutely need to try it to believe it. They do have customer parking, but it's a bit limited. It’s only about 8 minutes from the airport, so you can easily make a quick stop before or after your flight. I will definitely be coming back here next time I’m in San Diego.

It's a little on the expensive side, but you can always count on the quality. I often choose the cold pick-up for gatherings at home. I've been visiting El Indio for years, and they've finally perfected the pick-up process. I was in and out with my Christmas order in just five minutes!

Do you need tamales? Or do you want to make your own? Well, they have both here, the best masa for your tamales and a great variety of Mexican food, staff supper friendly, I just love this place!!

We have been coming to El Indio for 36 years. It is always perfect and delicious. Our family is from Utah and we fly down just to eat here. Never disappoints. We are customers for life!
