I usually order pho with rare steak (tai) and tendon (gan) and broken rice with chat-grilled pork (com thit nuong). Pho had tasty soup broth, and grilled pork was tender and delicious. Having crispy egg roll and spring roll as appetizer is a good idea. Over 5 years their pho has maintained quality, but broken rice has become sticky. Also their price has gone up. You need to walk 15-20 minutes from the Old Town Transit Station. You can take a bus and still need to walk ~5 minutes. They serviceis quick, so you are still within 2 hour window to ride a transit without additional fare if you use the Pronto pass. They have plenty of free parking, so driving there is a better option than public transport.
If you only have time to try just one Vietnamese place while you're in San Diego, do yourself a favor. Try this one!I heard about this place from a friend of mind in San Diego and tried it during a recent visit. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Here's why.First, the service was great. The staff was friendly and professional. Quick to greet visitors as the come into the restaurant.Next, cleanliness. The place was really clean and taken care of. It's clear that they have pride in keeping the place clean for their guests. Finally, and most important. The food. Seriously, super delicious! I had the fried Vietnamese egg rolls. They were really delicious. I followed that up by Veggie pho noodle soup with tofu. It was really fantastic.Don't miss this place!Vegetarian options: Really good choices for those who wish to enjoy flavors with less meat.
Absolutely our favorite place to get pho in San Diego. All of their food is just stellar and they are really wonderful with customization! Our food always comes out quick and is perfect. I can't recommend this place enough.Food: 5/5
As a Vietnamese local, this is my favorite pho restaurant. It is always a quick, clean and consistent experience. The broth is clear and flavorful and always comes out steaming hot. They’re always generous with the meat. Always use fresh ingredients. The banh mi, rice dishes and appetizers are good too but the pho is really the star of the menu. Don’t expect a warm welcome or smiling faces when you walk in. They are not rude, it is just simply not that kind of customer service. But you will see them constantly walking around and checking on people to see if you need anything. They will tend to you the moment you make eye contact. Definitely give it a try if you’re in the area.
On a cloudy chilly day in late April in San Diego, what better dish to warm your body and soul with than a steaming hot bowl of pho. These guys are doing it right. A flavorful broth with a lot of depth, resting on a hint of star anise. The broth requires a healthy squeeze of lime to balance out the flavors. The amount of protein is pretty average. The service is quick and friendly. I would come back to this place.
