Restaurant House Piccolo

We had dinner for two at piccolosOverall the food and service were goodDefinitely had a 90s style ambiance and menu.

One of my best dining experiences so farI hardly give 5 star to a restaurant but House Piccolo definitely deserves all the stars.

When we arrived at the restaurant (we were the first guests of the evening) we were greeted by a wonderful server who gave excellent service through an absolutely ridiculous ordeal. I have nothing but good things to say about our server! Chef/Owner on the other hand was another story. Appetizers were fine . When I ordered the $40.00 fillet of beef medium rare and it arrived medium by my standards, I sent it back to the kitchen. Chef refused to cook another serving. I have eaten at restaurants all over the world and NEVER have I been insulted like this. I don't know if Chef thought I had just rolled off the turnip truck or was some tourist that would probably never return but I am a resident of Salt Spring and had decided, despite the tired menu, to give the place another try. Hey Chef/Owner time for an attitude adjustment. I realize there are not a great deal of restaurants on the Island, however your primadonna and rude attitude is not OK. You didn't even have the class to speak with me directly. Put that in your brûlée.
