It’s a reasonable price, though not exactly a budget-friendly option for lunch. The cost is similar to what you’d find on campus, but we all know we're paying extra for the convenience. The coffee was enjoyable, but I wasn’t thrilled with my dish. The waffle had an unusual texture; it resembled a biscuit more than a traditional waffle, with a soft, chewy interior instead of the fluffy bread-like consistency I expected. I overheard someone mention that it might be vegan, which could explain the odd texture. I was really hoping for a classic diner-style waffle, so I was a bit let down. The tots were perfectly golden, yet I felt they could have been cooked a bit longer; they weren’t crispy enough on the outside, and the inside had a slight undercooked potato texture. The dipping sauce that came with them was quite good! The staff was nice and welcoming, and the place had a pleasant vibe. However, there’s no public wifi, which I assume is to encourage customers to leave sooner so they can turn over tables. The baked goods displayed beneath the register were all priced at under $3. I’d definitely return, but only for coffee and a pastry; I think I’ll pass on the food from the menu next time.
During my first visit, I ordered the big salad, and it was excellent—loaded with toppings, a generous amount of greens, and even half of a large avocado. That day, I felt I got my money's worth for the $8 (or maybe slightly more, but definitely not less). When I returned the following week and ordered the same salad, I was sorely disappointed. The portion was noticeably smaller, and there wasn't a single slice of avocado on it. I know they had avocados available because a customer who came in after me ordered the avocado toast. Additionally, while they advertise being open until 8 p.m., I've rarely seen a good selection of baked goods in the afternoon, except for the occasional leftover scone. This is both a positive and a negative; it's great that the baked goods are fresh each day, but it would be nice if they made enough to satisfy afternoon customers.
Absolutely delicious! The large salad was fantastic, and I really enjoyed all the pickled vegetables. The burger was also excellent. The staff was very friendly, and we loved sitting outside. My husband said the chili was the best he's ever tasted. We will definitely be coming back regularly. Great job!
Great coffee n eats right off campus. This place takes over feom Big Ed's, a campus institution since 1968. With a somewhat eclectic menu, coffee products and beer. A more upscale coffee experience with a laid back vibe.
Well it is definitely your average, overpriced, gentrified hipster spot. Was hoping it was something like Big Ed's where you get an absolutely gargantuan meal for $6 that you can split with a friend or two in between class. This place has a $7 toast that is quite literally a single piece of bread. Publik is pretty damn delicious honestly but it is a disappointment that this is what replaced Ed's. Everything that made Ed's a local legend is missing from this place and thatwould explain why no one talks about it on campus like they did with Ed's.
