An inexperienced waitress accidentally spilled soda on my friend's lap, prompting us to decide to leave. However, the staff became quite hostile. They insisted that we pay for the chips and salsa and then argued that we had to order food since we had ordered a beer. Isn’t chips and salsa considered food? If we're paying for it, I believe it qualifies. As we were leaving, the staff was very rude. Overall, we were extremely disappointed.
I ordered the camarones a la diabla and really enjoyed it! The corn tortillas appeared to be homemade. My dining companion liked their huarache, although they found the carnitas to be just okay. Chips and salsa were served in disposable plastic and paper containers, which felt a bit strange. The service was frustratingly slow, especially considering we were the only other customers in the restaurant. It was disappointing to wait at least 15 minutes between interactions with the server. Furthermore, the prices felt quite high for such a casual setting. I paid $20 for my dish, which is definitely on the expensive side. I've had better camarones a la diabla in California for a lower price. Overall, while Meño's was a nice experience, I likely wouldn't return.
I've been dining here for about four years, and I still discover new dishes to love! Their camarones empapelados are amazing—it's my current favorite—and there's always enough to take home. You definitely need to try their mojarra frita; it's a hearty fried fish served with rice, beans, and homemade tortillas. I also recommend the chimichanga, topped with sour cream and queso fresco. Last but not least, the staff here are always so friendly!

The best Mexican restaurant in Salt Lake City for the past two decades.
