Mediterranean Room - S San Diego

Loved it. Great for breakfast. Million dollar view and reasonable prices. Went on July 4 am after watching seals play in cove. Great decor...historic hotel and first class service. Breakfasts range from $18 up. Very reasonable. Vintage vibe and great service.

We went to the Mediterranean Room to celebrate two wedding anniversaries. It was the worst restaurant experience any of the 5 of us had had in living memory. The servers were very nice but had to be reminded repeatedly about our order. It took over 1.5 hrs to receive our main courses (and we had to walk to the bar to find a server to ask where they were because we were all starving). We had the Brussels sprouts appetizer (delicious), the salad appetizer (which arrived without any dressing), and tomato soup (very tasty). Of the main courses, the grilled cauliflower was totally inedible: the lentils were dry and the spice combination on the cauliflower tasted horrible. One of us had the seafood risotto, which was sour, and the worst bit was that there were 2 heads of prawns on the plate into which they had stuffed 2 cocktail shrimps, to pass these off as prawn meat! The scallops were good. Horrible food and service experience overall, and a ruined double anniversary celebration.

It is always a wonderful experience to dine at The Med. Today was no exception--excellent food, service, and ambiance. The only small objection is that the noise level was a little high due to the live music. Perhaps the music could be amped a little less as a general rule.

It used to be a treat and luxurious to go to La Valencia. The entire experience was a disappointment. The food quality was bad how do you make a lobster eggs Benedict both soggy and tough? Salad was soggy drowned in dressing. The live music would have been good at a Margaritaville.

We were celebrating an anniversary and every staff member we encountered at the restaurant greeted us and acknowledged our anniversary. We had a perfect table, with a happy anniversary card and a beautiful complimentary dessert. They went above and beyond in service. Everything was perfect!
