Village Social Kitchen - Rye

After my friend Jason M. and I were turned away from an original spot we decided on because their 'summer dining hours changed ', we fine-tooth combed the town and Village Social made the cut. Plus he and I have never been. Set in a super casual spot, Village Social 's inside has bistroish mini floor tiles, grey+black interior with large, overhead light fixtures. This turned out nice for our early catch-up dinner. But it can also be for like a birthday, lunch or almost anything in between. Since I almost devoured the Polenta bites appetizer at their Mount Kisco location, I wanted to relive that. Edible, but these folks didn 't completely make it happen. While the Butter+Honey flavors were present, what I got was soft tofu consistency- instead of firm. My 3, heftily filled fish tacos were good and actually liked the significant protein used in the dish without the cabbage+veggies taking over. Service was fine. I wasn 't obsessed with the food execution here. Their other Village Social meals in Mount Kisco gave me a lot of oohs and ahhhs a year ago- but I guess I don 't stray away too much when I write that this location 's food wasn 't all that either.

We enjoy visiting Village Social in Mt Kisco, so we decided to check out the location in Rye hoping for a similar wonderful experience. However, I must say that I am extremely disappointed by the cleanliness and food quality at this particular branch. We ordered the Saigon spare ribs and while eating the coleslaw that came with the dish, I noticed something strange. It turns out there were napkins mixed into the coleslaw. They quickly took the plate away before I could snap any photos, but it was truly a disgusting experience. I will not be returning to this location again.

We love going to village social in Mt Kisco, so decided to explore the one in Rye expecting similar great experience. However, I have to say that I am very disappointed by the hygiene and food quality served at this place in Rye. We ordered Saigon spare rib. I was eating their coleslaw in the dish and felt weird and I found that it had NAPKINS mixed in their coleslaw. They took the plate right away so I couldn't take photos but it is the most disgusting experience I have ever had. I would never go again.

Service was terrible. Brought out our main course 3 mins after apps and the waiter just stood there with our dishes without speaking. Bizarre. Then every waiter just ignored us. Asked for bread for the rest of our hummus, hummus got taken away when we told them to leave it and then bread came at the very end. Just no care in the world. Welp. Never again. Food: 3
