We kicked off the evening with a selection of share plates, including: - **Smashed Pea and Avocado Mezze**: I've always thought that peas are an underrated vegetable, but this dish truly highlighted their flavor. - **Farmer's Platter** (featuring meats, bread, burrata, olives, and pickles): I love a good grazing plate, and this one had everything I could want. The burrata was wonderfully creamy, there was plenty of meat, and the pickles had a delightful crunch. - **Pumpkin Hummus**: This was a nice twist on traditional hummus, with a good kick of spice. For the main courses, we enjoyed a variety of pizzas, pasta, and charcoal chicken: - **Burrata Pizza**: Pizza is already fantastic, but adding burrata to it was pure genius. - **Blue Swimmer Crab Pasta**: This dish packed a flavorful punch, and I appreciated the addition of fennel. - **Pasta with Zucchini**: I found this to be surprisingly creamy and full of flavor, though it wasn’t my favorite dish. - **Marinated Butterflied Chicken**: This chicken was incredibly juicy and paired perfectly with a flavorful garlic sauce. We also had the chance to try the farmhouse soft-serve ice cream, and my favorite flavor was definitely the matcha green tea. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Butcher and the Farmer. The space is quite spacious, making it an excellent choice for events, especially with its orientation toward the waterfront. The only thing to keep in mind is that parking in the area can be a bit limited.
Please note that I dined as a guest of the FCBA Community. #butcherandthefarmer
#invite We came to the Butcher and The Farmer Meadowbank to celebrate the fourth birthday of FCBA community. It also coincided with the 2-month anniversary of the restaurant! Butcher and The Farmer Meadowbank has a pretty different concept than the one in Tramshed. Instead of the upmarket style, this one is geared more towards the casual dining with predominantly Italian influence.
I've been part of the Food Critics and Bloggers Association (FCBA) for a number of years and so when their 4th year anniversary came up I was excited to celebrate with the fellow community at venue Butcher and Farmer in Meadowbank. . Butcher and Farmer is most well known for their Glebe Tramshed venue however they now have opened up in Meadowbank in a huge space. It's surrounded by many apartment buildings.
