I visited yesterday only to find that the restaurant is permanently closed, as all the signs have been taken down and the windows are taped up. At the entrance, there was a note announcing that a new business will open on November 1st, along with a phone number. Since we had been regular customers for many years, I decided to call the number. The woman who answered informed me that Xiang Ji, originally from Monterey Park, will be moving in to take over this location in about a month. It's disappointing to lose one more vegetarian restaurant, but the good news is that the new establishment will also offer vegetarian options on their menu, so we’re looking forward to trying it out!
I don't have any photos, but this place is my top choice whenever I need to eat vegetarian for the day. I typically order their fried oyster mushrooms, the veggie sweet and sour chicken with pineapple, and the spicy vermicelli. You really can't go wrong here. Just make sure to call ahead for pickup, as they sometimes take a bit longer than expected.
Came to eat dinner with a party of 3. Told us to go only, dine in is for large parties only. Several people walked out. Strange rules dont waste your time unless you have a party of 6 or more.
I've had a few vegetarian places in the San Gabriel Valley, with Vege Paradise being my most frequented establishment. I wanted to try something new, and saw this place had been around for a while. So I decided to go here for lunch. My family and I came here for Mid Autumn Festival, so they did not have lunch specials. Unfortunate, as their lunch specials are served with complimentary soup and tea. We ended up sharing some crispy oyster mushrooms, fried tofu with hot sauce, and stir fried vegetables. We also ordered a white rice and a brown rice to share. The portions for the entrees were fairly generalized. I loved the oyster mushrooms, which were crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. The tofu was quite silky too. The prices were definitely high because the lunch specials were not available. I want to come back in the future during a non holiday and try their lunch specials.
