Coal Valley Creamery - Richmond

This restaurant is a hidden gem! My partner and I are from South Australia and were traveling from Hobart to Launceston when we came across a brochure for this place. As huge fans of Gelatissimo and after reading the reviews, we knew we had to make a stop. The lady who served us was delightful and let us sample 2 flavors each. She informed us that they have over 50 flavors which they rotate regularly. Unfortunately, my partner couldn't try the apricot gelato but he ended up choosing Fresh Mango and Mint. I went for Belgian Chocolate and Lemon Sorbet. The lemon sorbet had a strong, tangy, and sweet flavor that I was not expecting so it might not be a flavor I'd choose again, but the Belgian Chocolate was heavenly! The Mango and Mint was also quite delicious. Overall, it was an authentic experience that did not taste like the low-quality, watery/icy stuff you find in supermarkets. This place was a great find in the charming town of Richmond.

If you find yourself in Richmond town and feeling worn out from sightseeing by the bridge, be sure to stop by this ice cream shop for a refreshing treat. I believe their ice creams are worth a visit even for locals from Hobart who may not typically travel 25 kilometers just to see a historic bridge. They offer a wide selection of flavors, friendly service, and delicious ice creams, milkshakes, and coffees.

This is the best gelato/ice cream we have ever tasted - and my sister used to work in a gelato shop, so we have tried many ice creams! We tried the After Dinner Mint and Strawberry flavors, and they were delicious. The staff was friendly and efficient, allowing us to sample two flavors each.

Beautiful little ice cream shop but I don’t really need to tell you that. They have an array of accolades on display which is a testament to their commitment in perfecting their flavours. I’ve had the other ice cream company here which I don’t really rate Valhalla. The lady behind the counter encouraged me to try the Tasmania lavender flavour and it was magical! I’d happily drive back to Richmond for an ice cream

YUM! Found this treasure on our second day in Tasmania. One of the best gelato's we tried on our holiday. Loved it so much, detoured back there on our way to the airport before flying out.
